Enjoy Tianjin - the Growing Beauty
The urban area of the city Tianjin is the third largest one in China, after Shanghai and Beijing. Tianjin lies by the northern coast, at the end of the Grand Canal of China; it has a provincial status of municipality. Over 11 million people live in this fast-growing, modern city that is home to the Binhai New Area, a special economic zone, opened also for foreign investors. Manufacturing, textile industry, oil, fishing and farming dominates Tianjin´s economy.
Tianjin does not come perhaps directly to mind as a tourist attraction, especially when there is so much to do in nearby Beijing. However, the city itself hosted in the past several imperial powers that left behind many buildings with extraordinary and exotic architectural styles (and the last emperor of China, Pu Yi, chose Tianjin for his home). For that reason Tianjin is sometimes called 'Building Museum'.
Tianjin offers several interesting attractions, among them The Huangyaguan Great Wall, Dule Temple, and Ancient Cultural Street with craft and jade boutiques. Also the Hotel Street and Food Street, showing architectural styles of the Qing Dynasty are very fascinating places.
Outside the city, in its beautiful surroundings, along with the enjoyable Water Park, the Panshan Mountain is one of the most famous attractions of Tianjin.
